The new rules to the girls LBC uniform is ridiculous especially considering the fact they have close to no rules when it comes to the boys. We aren’t asking for the whole uniform to be changed but to change the things that matter, like wearing hair ties and and doing minimal makeup. We are going to fight to even out the expectations for boy and girls when it comes to uniforms. They say we are to be treated the same but then they go and do stuff like this. They called us “walking billboards” and that is so dehumanizing, it’s as soon as the school uniform comes on we are no longer human and just an advertisement for the school. The school values are care, create, respect, and community. And they aren’t following these values by not respecting us as girls, as people. They don’t care about how we feel and how this affects us. They tell us to be creative but then don’t let us express ourselves. How they handled this situation disregarded these values just to change how we look. As a non-binary student the fact they are still separating boys from girls from how the were born and treating girls as the lesser shows that they forget what some of the things that make the school special, the fact they respect our identities. But then they go and segregate us just shows they need to take a step back and rethink what really matters. Let’s reach our goal and make an impact. VIVA LA REVOLUTION! ✊

• wearing hair ties, they aren’t bracelets and they are requirements for certain classes

•number of earrings shouldn’t matter but size could be a requirement. 

• having colored braces, they don’t distract us and are barely visible, and the school did not pay for people with colored braces.

• rolling skirts should be allowed, each body is different and rolling skirts help to fit that body shape and feel comfortable. 

• minimal makeup, it’s not distracting and it gives confidence to young girls. This also shows we are putting time and effort into our appearance which is how people outside view our school.
