This is near weekly and this is outrageous! A complete catastrophic site unfit for all drivers! Please share this petition far and wide to get enough notice to hand over to the Council. *Edit Dec 2025: Sadly, since the petition started yesterday after 2 accidents just this week, there has been another accident this morning, with police attending the scene, bringing this week up to 3.

The constant threat posed by the Bury Road's crossroads is a grim reality we've all had to face. It's evident that this intersection is an accident hotspot, where tragic mishaps seem to unfold with an alarming regularity. I've personally experienced terrifying near misses, like the time a van suddenly pulled out onto the Moulton road as I was travelling from Newmarket towards Kennett. But what's perhaps most heart-wrenching is the loss of a dear friend in a fatal crash at a similar junction, a tragedy that could have been avoided with better road design.

The tragic accidents are not isolated incidents. In fact, the crossroads leading to Moulton and the A14 have become synonymous with danger and despair. The statistics are frankly shocking: accidents happen at this spot every year without fail, often exceeding speeds of 60mph, leading to devastating consequences with no signs of change. Just this week, we've witnessed two such heart-breaking crashes. Despite numerous complaints and calls for change, the authorities have failed to act.

There's precedence for improvement. The crossroads at Bottisham near the horses roundabout in Newmarket, was similarly treacherous and claimed many lives until changes to its layout were finally implemented. These modifications have prevented numerous accidents since, standing as proof of what can be achieved with the right interventions.

Our plea is clear: we need an urgent review and restructuring of the Bury Road's crossroads to prevent further loss of life. Whether it's through speed reductions, traffic lights, or redesigning the intersection entirely, action must be taken. The authorities must recognize the grave danger this road poses and prioritize it for redesign.
