The support for this petition continues to exceed our hopes! A week ago today we were getting ready for our #ICantKeepQuiet Flashmob, which we hoped would help push the Petition signatures past the 2,000 mark, which was tantalisingly close. It did that, and then kept growing. Today we are well on the way to 2,500 - far more than we had hoped for!
We were delighted to have the endorsement of Diana Parkes of the Joanna Simpson Foundation in the newspaper article that followed the Flashmob We were also delighted to receive a "Decision maker's Response from Ann Corlett MHK (published on our FB page) and to meet with Ann in the week after the Flashmob. Ann is passionate about achieving real change for victims and to the law. With other MHKs, Ann had also turned out in the rain last Saturday to join our Flashmob.
We would like to say thank you for the public support and thank you for the political support for this Petition. Please keep talking about Domestic Abuse and keep sharing the Petition - to reach 2,500 would be amazing and would surely be a number no one can ignore!
We also plan to raise domestic abuse awareness with another Flashmob later in the year, and to participate in the #ICantKeepQuiet Campaign every year, standing shoulder to shoulder with other victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Thank you again for your support.
