Aggiornamento sulla petizioneChange the Law on responsibility of MinistersFor an Independent Judiciary, for a modern Rule of Law State

A few days ago, we witnessed the paradoxically swift convergence of the institutional body of the plenary session of the Supreme Court of Greece (Areos Pagos), aiming to overturn the condemnatory decision of a European institutional body. They were affected by a decision essentially condemning a government for violating the principles of the Rule of Law, aligning itself with it.

They spoke of a "direct intervention in justice," and through the words of Areopagite Panagiotis Lymperopoulos, it was admitted that, regarding the responsibilities of politicians, the Supreme Court, and the Justice system in this country, have no authority. According to the Greek Constitution, the specific authority over politicians has been solely entrusted to the Parliament.

This is the Law on Ministerial Responsibility currently in force, and according to it-without any violation of the Law itself-potential suspects in the murder of the Tempi former Ministers, will not undergo a preliminary committee, even though it is foreseen. The progress of the converged investigative committee of the Parliament, at least until now, is known to all who have been following it.

The resolution of Ms. Karystianou, whom I support wholeheartedly, refers to activating a Law that is already in effect. What is needed is to constitutionally change this law through democratic procedures. That is why, 22 days ago, I posted a petition on the same platform - change.org - with the aim of raising awareness among the people to exert pressure to change this specific law. Written in English to "travel" outside of the country, along with updates, where I explain how I envision the axes of changes that will strengthen Independent Justice in holding even politically protected individuals accountable, while also being protected by the parliamentary majority based on a law considered outdated in a modern European democracy.

If you believe in the power of ordinary people with good intentions, nice ideas, and a willingness to contribute to society, and you want to help make them better and assist those who help, support this effort. It is an indicator of a healthy society desperately seeking the self-evident principles of equality, democracy, an impartial, objective, and fearless Independent Justice.

For these reasons, assuming that you are fighting the good fight for the democratization of a country torn between the democratic principles of a modern European State and another navigating in murky waters hand in hand with the Judicial Authority, I appeal to you to support my fight by signing and spreading my petition, which, in its short life of 22 days, has garnered over 96,000 signatures and continues.

Help in the collective struggle to restore a modern Rule of Law because, as a grieving father said in the murder of Tempi, we are all "passengers" in the same speeding train of a derailed and capricious state that doesn't hesitate to sell lives for tickets!

Thank you,

Dimitris Antonopoulos

P.S. I didn't lose children or relatives at Tempi. I am a Pharmacist and I refuse to accept the loss of every trace of civilization, manners, and values.
