I have always loved spending time at Hither Hills State Park in Montauk, New York. It has been my go-to place for family outings to enjoy the sun, sand, and scenic beauty. However, there's one aspect that has always hampered my experience: the no dogs policy.

Like many others in New York, my dogs are a part of my family. Whenever I plan a camping trip or a day at the beach, I yearn to have them alongside me, sharing in the joy and relaxation that these escapes bring. Unfortunately, the current policy at Hither Hills State Park prevents this from happening, which is deeply disappointing.

As long as regulations such as leash laws, waste disposal, and designated pet areas are enforced, allowing dogs could be a benefit rather than a burden. It's time to adapt to the evolving needs of park-goers and create a more inclusive environment for all.
