Change the Bangladesh World Cup venue out of India

The Issue

I am a passionate cricket fan, and like many fellow Bangladeshis, I eagerly await the World Cup. It is a time when our nation comes together to cheer for our team, hoping for our players to shine on the international stage. However, the anticipation of watching Bangladesh play in the World Cup is overshadowed by the location of one of our matches being hosted in India.

This presents a unique personal challenge for me and many other supporters. Due to diplomatic strains and ongoing regional tensions, attending the match in India could pose risks and challenges for Bangladeshi fans. Our enthusiasm to support our team in person is dampened by concerns for personal safety and visa issues—hurdles that should not be part of the joyous celebration that is the World Cup.

Moreover, cricket is a sport that should unite us, transcending borders and politics. Hosting the match in India, amidst the current delicate relationship, could potentially restrict the joy and unity that the World Cup aims to foster. We believe that by moving the venue to a neutral location, the spirit of the game, along with the safety and involvement of all fans, would be preserved.

I propose that the Bangladesh World Cup match scheduled in India be relocated to another venue—anywhere in the world where it can be celebrated inclusively, peacefully, and safely. This will not only allow fans like myself to attend without fear but will also reinforce the unity and camaraderie that cricket embodies.

I urge the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the relevant authorities to consider this request seriously. Let's ensure the World Cup remains a celebration of cricket, without barriers or boundaries. Please sign this petition to support the change of venue for Bangladesh's World Cup match to ensure it's accessible, welcoming, and a true celebration of the sport we all love.
