At Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, CA, a growing problem is causing undue stress and safety concerns for students. The current parking policies and parking lot conditions require students to park a significant distance away from the school, leading to situations where they are forced to park in unsafe areas such as fire lanes, ditches, or other hazardous locations to make it to class on time. This not only poses serious risks of accidents and legal penalties for students but also compromises their ability to safely and promptly attend school, impacting their education and well-being.  Pot holes litter the gravel lot and every senior knows the feeling of being rocked back and forth just entering the parking lot.

Students deserve to have access to convenient and safe parking options that allow them to arrive at school in a timely manner without having to resort to parking in dangerous spots. The lack of proper parking facilities is a persistent issue that requires immediate attention from school authorities. According to community feedback, these parking inadequacies are not just an inconvenience but a threat to student safety and their educational experience.

We urge the administration of Tamalpais High School to reconsider and revise the existing parking policies. Some possible solutions include increasing the number of on-campus parking spaces, arranging for specific student parking areas closer to the school, maintaining current parking facilities, or collaborating with local authorities to find nearby safe parking alternatives. At the very least we just need to maintain the gravel lot and fill the pot holes. By addressing this issue, the school can greatly enhance the safety and satisfaction of its students.
