We are asking students (those who graduated, will graduate this year, or will graduate at some time) to sign this petition to get our point across to the Department of Education. 🫵

We, the students, are asking the Department of Education to take in consideration of keeping 10 Sraith Pictiúr for the Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 and moving on forward instead of keeping it just for LC 2025. ☘️

The effects of studying 20 Sraith Pictiúr is dreadful and leads to high stress, time consuming, overwhelming, and not being able to focus on other subjects. 😔

Although some third-level institution courses don’t require Irish to be a criteria, students should be able to love the culture and language, not overwhelm ourselves with learning 20 Sraith Pictiúr. ❤️

How is this fair for the Class of 2026 and those moving forward to learn 20 Sraith Pictiúr when students should be focusing on managing their time with studies. Take for example, a Modern Foreign Language (MFL) in school (i.e. Spanish, French, German) and think about their orals. In Spanish, you have to do 5 roleplays which is quite simple enough compared to Gaeilge where you need to learn 20 Comic Photos, 6 in each Comic Photos, how do you think this is fair?
