First, you might be wondering: why is Change.org responding now, years after this petition was launched? Truth be told, we didn’t have a way for decision makers – the people on the receiving end of petitions – to respond until very recently. We started with elected officials, and we’ve only just now rolled out our response tool to companies.
In regards to your petition, we hear you loud and clear that our internal messaging tools were an important part of your Change.org experience. The unfortunate reality is that, after actively soliciting feedback from our users via surveys (both online and in-person), focus groups, and our Help Desk, among other channels, we learned that the vast majority of people using our messaging tools weren’t getting much value from them. With only a few dozen engineers on our staff serving millions of people around the world, we had to make the tough decision to move away from those tools and invest our available tech resources in other features that the majority of our community uses, such as the petition creation feature.
What we promise to do is always put the empowerment of our users first, creating a platform that helps you take meaningful action that drives forward the change you care about.
