Tell change.org to be more responsible about content and to enforce policies
The Issue
On Tuesday, August 21st, someone started a change.org petition to "impeach" the principal at South Pointe High School, after only one day of classes. This vague and anonymous petition spawned a hailstorm of signatures under fake names, false and defamatory accusations, and threatening language. I am a teacher at the school and someone has signed and commented using my name. This is potentially damaging to my career and reputation. I have marked the comments as violations in accordance with change.org policy. In addition to reporting the comments, I have emailed and called but cannot get anyone at change.org to respond. These teenagers are learning that the truth doesn't matter when it comes to social media and that there is no accountability for what they post online. Change.org should be responsible for the content and should abide by their own policy about safety, honesty and respect.
