On August 2017, pastor Joel Osteen closed his church to Harvey storm victims that needed temporary shelter in Houston TX. He justified his non-christian actions saying that his huge compound "was flooded". This excuse proved untrue because he only had minor water penetration to non important parts of his building. Only after he had a big negative response from the public is that he changed his selfish attitude. Shame on Mayor Turner for honoring the wrong person. Shame on Mr. Osteen for accepting an honor that he does not deserve and for not acting according to his preaching. Mayor Turner should remove this undeserved "honor" and give it to real heroes that he has ignored.
