Change.org built its business by selling itself as a trustworthy ally of those who believe in progressive values such as workers' rights, environmental stewardship, opposition to discrimination based on sexual orientation, anti-militarism, and a woman's right to choose. Now, according to the Huffington Post, Change.org is abandoning that trust and embracing a mercenary model of political engagement that allows "for corporate advertising, Republican Party solicitations, astroturf campaigns, anti-abortion or anti-union ads and other controversial sponsorships, according to internal company documents." This decision is a slap in the face to Change.org's user base and to progressives at large.
