Native Americans are NOT a costume or mascot! Okeeheelee Middle school mascot is not a Native American instead it is a warrior however  they put it on gym shirts and in 2018-2019 pep rally they had teachers dress up as a Native American which is very offensive. That is why I am making this petition to make Okeeheelee change their gym shirts and Native American theming. During 2019-2020, they made jackets and put Native American theming on those jackets like they did with the gym shirts. Native American tribes and coalitions across the globe have protested for their culture to not be used as a mascot or theme so what Okeeheelee Middle school is doing is offensive and dehumanizing!
