The National Party would have us believe that country folk don't believe in climate change, while 60% of Australians do. Even the Liberal Party caved.
Suggesting coal is cheaper than renewals is just a plain lie. Do they really think we are that stupid? You have to dig out the coal, transport the coal, burn the coal and repeat, maintain the digging equipment, trucks, trains and power stations, vs install a solar panel, a battery, plug it in and walk away? You can't beat solar in cheap renewable energy.
ABC News released an article that young country folk have lost trust in government - no shit. Not just the young nor regional in my opinion.
Then I get this bizarre email from Chris Bowen throwing rocks at the Liberals for abandoning Net Zero. Suggesting we shouldn't trust them. So then why does Labor continually cozy up to the LibNats to get say a BS Freedom of Information (FOI) or weaker environment laws bill through parliament? You can't pretend to kick the cat, while stroking it gently in your lap.
You also shouldn't be boasting claims like "reduce emissions to 62-70% below 2005 levels by 2035" while approving more coal mines, gas fields and fracking. Can't suggest you're "lowering power bills" when we pay more tax than Gas companies, who on-sell our gas, cheaper than we pay for it either.
I like the solar panel battery rebate Albo introduced more than what the Liberals or Nationals would ever do, but you can't put your weight on both sides of the scales and pat yourself on the back for doing a good job.
Our government and public servants are clearly under the influence of big corporate corruption the likes of which thrive under the Trumpian empire. According to Michael West Media, The Australian Institute, and Punter Conrad, they are aware of the up tick in ground roots movements in Australia to change this status quo. And instead of listening to the 60%-99% percent of us who live here, they held a meeting in Brisbane (emTax conference) to find a way to double down and spread more misinformation.
Check out the speakers page. So we have the Fin Review, ATO, Woodside, Australian Accounting Standards Board (sounds important), ExxonMobil, Earnst & Young, BHP, Westpac, Rio Tinto, Australian Trade and Investment Commission (another important sounding 'independent' agency), Shadow Minister for Trade and Tourism, Shell, INPEX, Minerals Council of Australia, Price Waterhouse Coopers, KPMG, Chartered Accountants, Australian Energy Producers, Santos, Lynas Rare Earths, Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR), Glencore, Senex Energy, Deloittes and University of Queensland among others.
So we have a consulting firm that sells Aussie tax law secrets, another one that sells a dodgy AI report for $500K (still waiting on the full refund guys), the Chartered Accountants, all the big fossil fuel companies that appear on the Tax Dodgers list, with a bunch of 'independent' government agencies plus a University and Westpac bank, with a Murdoch media mouth piece - "Newcorpse. Where the truth goes to die.".
I don't wonder why we have lost faith in our government and institutions - I know why.
Seriously though, what is there to discuss? JUST PAY YOUR DAM TAXES! And while you're at it, all the back taxes you owe too.
If we force the NACC to hold public meetings, that's when we finally get to hold our politicians to account for their morally corrupt activities.
Imagine the influence government would have, if those billionaires bludgers paid their taxes, and the NACC was able to keep corruption out of politics?
