Change Mansfield ISD to a 4-day week school schedule

Change Mansfield ISD to a 4-day week school schedule
The Issue
School should support learning and well being as much as possible. Right now, Mansfield ISD follows a traditional five day schedule that often leaves students exhausted and teachers stretched thin. A four-day school week offers a smarter, more balanced approach already being used successfully by districts across Texas. Research and real world results show that four day weeks can reduce burnout, improve attendance, boost morale, reduce student irritability and increase teacher satisfaction. Students gain more time to rest, complete assignments, spend time with family, and stay motivated in class. Teachers benefit from less stress and more time to plan engaging lessons, leading to better learning overall. This model can also save the district money by reducing transportation and utility costs funds that can be reinvested into classrooms, programs, and facilities that directly benefit students. With thoughtful planning and community input, MISD can make this transition without sacrificing educational quality by the 2026-2027 school year. A four day week isn’t about doing less it is about learning better. By signing this petition, you support a schedule that prioritizes academic success, mental health, and a healthier school environment for everyone. Let’s work together to give MISD students and teachers the balance they deserve.
