St. John Book Mobile Sitting on St. Thomas

Greetings Supporters and Stakeholders,

I guess the excuse is that it is St. Thomas/St. John District so the St. John Book Mobile, which is sitting on St. Thomas is justified in being there. It was also told to me that this Book Mobile is too big for St. John. Really? Who are they trying to fool? St. Johnians? I guess they did because the Elaine I. Sprauve Public Library and Museum of Cultural Arts were closed since I left in January of 2019 to complete my dissertation and MLS degrees, this bookmobile could have been St. John for individuals, children, and families to check out books and DVDs.

What about St. John?

St. John is always the first to pay and the last to get what they pay for. There currently exists no physical space for children and families to engage and learn, besides the Julius E. Sprauve School, which is on the ball field in closed-in artificial air modules, which to some students may not be conducive to learning.

The St. John BookMobile was purchased for what? This is an example of BAD Leadership and BAD Management. 

Change Leadership of the VI Public Libraries NOW

12-Point St. John Community Needs for Library Service

1. Hire Directors that have an MLS Degree, Living on the island where they serve as director of said library.
2. Provide staff with education opportunities while working as library associates and other incentives to boost morale and decrease staff turnover.
3. Provide extended library hours and weekend hours.
4. Provide grant writing weekend workshops for artists.
5. Provide daily storytime read aloud with activity.
6. Provide monthly book club members with meeting space.
7. Provide other clubs such as the sewing club with meeting space.
8. Re-Establish the Friends of the Library to actively participate in fundraising events, grant writing, and other ways to raise funds for the library.
9. Provide opportunities for community members to contribute to the planning and implementation of library programming and events
