The Issue

Every time we go on a hike, I have to endure blazing hot heat, navigate through tall grass full of potential ticks, and battle with tons of bugs, not to mention the trip hazards every five minutes. We signed up for Lake Naomi Camp's Teen Adventure Program with the hope of exciting and enjoyable experiences. Yet, every Tuesday seems more like a battle with the elements than an adventure.

Lake Naomi's Teen Adventure Program in Pocono Pines, PA, is designed to create memorable experiences for us, the camp's youth. However, we find ourselves dreading Tuesdays because the hikes are just too harsh under the  summer sun. The heat is often unbearable, and it's easy to lose enthusiasm when you have to constantly swat at mosquitoes or deal with the risk of ticks. Safety and enjoyment should be paramount in our summer adventures.

Instead of hikes every Tuesday, we propose that it be changed to a pool day. With its amazing facilities, Lake Naomi offers a fantastic, fun, and safe environment by the pool. A pool day could promote socializing and relaxation, ensuring campers look forward to Tuesdays as a refreshing break in their week. Given the array of water-based activities available, a pool day could be just as, if not more, engaging than the current hike days. We believe this change will enhance camper satisfaction and make Tuesdays a day to anticipate joyfully.

The camp management's willingness to listen to campers' feedback, especially in re-evaluating Tuesdays' program schedule, would demonstrate their commitment to creating the best possible camp experience for us. Our summer should be about making lifelong memories, not coping with the discomfort of an unfavorable activity.

Please sign this petition to show your support for a much-needed adjustment to our camp schedule. Let's make Tuesdays at Lake Naomi Camp a day we can't wait to dive into!
