Change is needed for Polk County Animals!
The Issue
We, the residents of Polk County, are passionate about protecting and saving the lives of animals in our community. For many years, we have witnessed countless animals suffering due to the lack of a spay/neuter law. This critical issue is our responsibility, and the inaction from county leadership can no longer be tolerated.
Every year, thousands of animals, particularly dogs and cats, are left to roam without being spayed or neutered, leading to overpopulation and unnecessary suffering. The American Veterinary Medical Association supports spay/neuter ordinances as a proven method for controlling animal populations and believes that it could save thousands of animal lives each year (source: AVMA policies).
Despite this evidence, the county leadership has continually ignored our calls for a spay/neuter ordinance. We, as concerned citizens, have tried various methods to make our voices heard—phone calls, emails, and even in-person visits to the county manager's office. But our efforts appear to be falling on deaf ears.
With this petition, we now collectively assert our demand for action. It is no longer a discussion about whether it's needed; the mandate for a spay/neuter ordinance is necessary and urgent. Not only will it lead to significant reductions in stray animal populations, but it will also improve the overall quality of life in our beloved Polk County.
This issue is personal to us. We bear witness to the consequences of inaction every day and refuse to stand by while innocent animal lives are lost. It's time for a change. It's time for Polk County to implement a spay/neuter ordinance.
Please join us in this critical call to action—sign this petition and let our shared voices be the catalyst for the change we so desperately need in Polk County.
