The Dallas Mavericks have long been a franchise recognized by loyalty. As the fanbase, this is something we have never taken lightly. Loyalty to our most important players is what brought us our first ever NBA championship. However, the new ownership of the Dallas Mavericks have loudly displayed their lack of understanding in the culture of Dallas and its fandom. 

The abrupt trading of Luka Dončić left us all feeling blindsided, betrayed, and disrespected. We no longer feel like our voices or loyalty to this franchise are being considered. This is why it’s time to take action and take our team back. The direction the franchise is heading in is not one any true Dallas Mavericks fan ever wanted to see. 

Our concerns are simple:

1. Lack of Transparency: Key decisions that shape the future of our beloved team—such as trades, player development, and overall team direction—are being made behind the backs of every person emotionally invested in the franchise. We demand transparency in decision-making processes.
2. Feeling of Betrayal: The treatment of Luka Dončić has left us feeling betrayed by an ownership that we once trusted to build a winning team while valuing the loyalty of its fans and players.
3. Disconnect Between Ownership and Fans: The current ownership has shown little regard for the true passion and commitment of Mavericks fans. We feel our dedication to this franchise is being ignored, and this lack of respect cannot continue.

We, the fans of the Dallas Mavericks, believe that it is time for change in the ownership of this team. The ownership should reflect the values of the city of Dallas—honesty, loyalty, and a genuine respect for the fanbase that has supported this team for decades—something this new ownership has failed to demonstrate. It is time, again, for a leadership that listens to the people who fill the seats, wear the gear, and invest in the Mavericks not just as a team, but as a part of our community and identity.
