Change Illinois Dog Tethering Law

Change Illinois Dog Tethering Law

The Issue

The Illinois law for dog tethering needs changed to further protect the dogs from harm. It needs to be changed to state that: No person shall chain, tether, fasten, tie, or restrain a dog to a tree, house, fence, or any other stationary object. The dog shall be on a leash & supervised, or in a fenced yard.  Help end animal neglect and cruelty by changing the Illinois tethering law.

Tethering can cause:

severe behavioral issues

endangers the dog & puts it at risk of heat stroke or hypothermia

unable to flee if a dangerous dog approaches it,

unwanted litters,

risk of breaking the tether and getting tangled and fleeing
