Change Flight Paths over Richmond Park

Change Flight Paths over Richmond Park

Why this matters
Richmond Park is a nationally important nature reserve and one of London’s most valuable natural spaces. It is home to hundreds of species, including red and fallow deer, birds, bats, insects, and other wildlife that rely on a calm and stable environment.

Aircraft flying frequently and loudly over the park create noise disturbance that can:

Stress wildlife and disrupt natural behaviours
Interfere with feeding, nesting, and breeding patterns
Cause animals to flee from safe habitats
Damage the peaceful ecosystem that has existed for centuries
Reduce the park’s value as a safe conservation area
Richmond Park is a protected landscape, and its wildlife deserves protection from avoidable human disturbance.

What we are asking for
We respectfully request that aviation authorities and decision-makers:

Review current flight paths over Richmond Park
Reduce the number of flights passing directly overhead
Reroute aircraft where possible to minimise wildlife disturbance
Consider environmental protection when planning airspace changes
Why action is needed now
Once wildlife habitats are disturbed repeatedly, animals may permanently leave or suffer long-term harm. Protecting Richmond Park now ensures it remains a safe home for wildlife and a peaceful natural space for future generations.

I live in Richmond and aircraft flying over Richmond Park can reach noise levels of up to 83 decibels—more than double the park’s normal background noise of 35–40 decibels—causing significant disturbance to visitors and wildlife.

Richmond Park is a rare and precious natural environment. We urge authorities to take responsibility and protect this important wildlife habitat by reducing harmful aircraft disturbance.
