As per my previous petition update, an Orthodox Christian born in 1975 and will get experience their Easter on:
- Its third-earliest date (April 6 N.S/March 24 O.S) in 1980 aged 5
- Its latest date (May 8 N.S/April 25 O.S) in 1983 aged 8
- Its earliest date (April 4 N.S/March 22 O.S) in 2010 aged 35
- Its second-earliest date (April 5 N.S/March 23 O.S) in 2037 aged 62
- Its third-latest date (May 6 N.S/April 23 O.S) in 2040 aged 65
- Its exact middle date (April 21 N.S/April 8 O.S) in 2041 aged 66
- Its second-earliest date again aged 73 in 2048 AND
- Its second-latest date (May 7 N.S/April 24 O.S) in 2051 aged 76
ALL WITHIN THE LIMITS OF A STANDARD 80 YEAR HUMAN LIFESPAN!!
In fact, because Orthodox Easter fell on its earliest possible date so recently, many Orthodox Christians born in late 2008 or 2009 are not even 18 yet – unless we take action, get more signatures and get our voices heard, Easter will never fall earlier than March 25th for current generations! This is the perfect thing to talk about in a so-called Death Café!
This is a serious issue that needs to be looked into, debated in parliament and spoken about across the world!
When I see signs in shops in my local area saying “Easter Sunday – 5th April” it make me feel like I am quite simply living in a world which is not designed for me, a feeling I quite often get as somebody on the autistic spectrum and one purpose of this petition is to make people aware of my disability – and the fact that not all disabilities are visible.
As the petitioner, I observed Shrove Tuesday (pancake day) on Tuesday 3rd February and Mothering Sunday on Sunday 1st March so effectively I am two weeks ahead of everyone else here in England.
April 5th is the day I’ve been dreading for many months, having been in denial about this year’s official Easter date and before Christmas 2025 as part of my Christmas shopping, I ordered multiple empty ”birthdays” diaries on Amazon, putting in “my “ Easter on Sunday March 22nd and “UK Easter” on April 5th – all the diaries which I gave to my closest family and friends (including one of my fellow petition signers) cost me nearly £200 in total!
Creating this petition has made me feel like I’m taking back control and that I’m not alone in celebrating Easter on Sunday 22nd March, 2026. I am going to be famous worldwide for celebrating Easter on March 22nd this year and creating this petition has made me get my voice heard across the world.
With a growing number of Orthodox Christians, it is about time we addressed the lack of recognition in my country and the Bank Holidays which don’t always align with Coptic and Orthodox observances – I fully support many existing petitions regarding Orthodox holidays (particularly in the US).
