Change Construction Hours for Better Quality of Life
The Issue
Shorten Construction Hours to 7am-6pm Monday-Friday.
Our health and well being should matter more than money.
Construction Hours in Vail is currently 7am-7pm, 6 days a week year round with trucks consistently booming and beeping in to their sites prior to 7am.
This affects all of us and the quality of life we have in this place we work so hard to live in and provides so much for us. Those living next to the sites experience 1 day of peace in their homes and about 2-3 hours a day every other day of the week and weekend. Our animals are at home all day where they suffer through the noise and their homes shaking, having no idea what is happening. Your project finishing in a certain time so certain people save money does NOT matter. People and animals matter. It's very simple.
The detrimental affects that listening to construction noises for 12 hours a day has on someones mental health has been studied and proven. The incessant beeping, banging, and shaking really take a toll on a persons overall health, unnecessarily. There can absolutely be a balance between the work and peace for residents, right now there is no balance. There is no argument to be made for balance with 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, year round.
Unfortunately the only people who live in the valley year round are workers so this doesn't affect the right people to see change like we want but we still have a voice. Just because money rules this valley and the construction companies care far more about money than the ecological affects they have or the people living next to their thunderously disruptive sites doesn't mean we, and all the animals around us, should have to suffer for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, all year round. We came to the mountains for peace and while construction is to be expected, a modicum of decency for the residents is to be expected as well. Your money stops flowing when people stop wanting to live and work here.
Initiate change for fellow and future residents and animals. They matter. Stand up for the beautiful place we call home and our own health.
