Chandigarh University has launched some guidelines with respect to Final Examinations for the year 2020-21. These guidelines are completely baseless and unfavorable to students of the university that are sitting across the nation at their homes due to pandemic.

Covid-19 has hit every sector in a great way, so, many of us are even facing a financial crisis and doing our best to bring things back to normal. We are not sure that even if we would get an internship or job when we graduate. In this uncertain situation, Chandigarh University has come up with some regulations & criteria for final examinations that has completely disrupted the peace of mind of all students.

They say the examinations will be done online in which live video stream will be there to keep a check on students by invigilators. We, students, are ok with that but what about the following terms that you want us to accept. You are asking to give exams on Laptop/PC only, How? Can the university explain to us on what criteria you say so. There are a no. of students among us who may not afford PC/Laptop or we do not have one. We need a solution for that. Some students just have mobile phones. We want that rules should be such that it benefits all of us. 

They are asking students to accept anyone options out of following -

1. "I have an arrangement of sufficient bandwidth/hardware for live video stream during all examination." - University says, In case of any technical issue student will be responsible.

- Can the university plz tell us that how we are responsible for technical errors. If we students are doing online exam & there's electricity cut or wi-fi disruption, some of us don't have generators/invertors. At some places There may be net problem due to backend towers or servers. So, in such cases we are not liable to take responsibility. You just need to keep every situation in mind. Your decisions are wrong. Come up with solution that's suitable to everyone.

2.  "I do not have an arrangement of sufficient bandwidth/hardware for live video stream during all examination." - University says, In this case student can come to campus for examination. 

- So, if we don't have resources, the university simply asked us to put our health and life at stake for exams. What a common sense in the administration we must say. Completely baseless. If we don't have efficient bandwidth internet, we can still give exam managing somehow like we do for our classes but coming to university - we do not get it.

3.  "I do not have an arrangement and would like to defer the examination and agree to be marked absent for current exams." - University says, in this case absent will be considered as backlogs and have to appear in exam when asked by university.

- Seriously, Instead of dealing with problems, coming out with solutions that benefit everyone and taking all students together, the university is just putting students under pressure and stress. University is just looking for its benefits. The administrative decisions have failed because we expect the university to help students instead of crushing us under such baseless rules.

We want Chandigarh University to listen to us - The Students. We are ready to give exams, we are ready co-opearte with you if you come up with guidelines that are framed keeping in mind every student and their resources and conditions. We are studying and we want to study but we don't want ourselves to get harassed mentally in any way. Kindly Help us out, Listen to us.
