Postpone LLB 3 Year Examination

The first list of seat allotment for LLB 3 years was published on 7th Oct and last list which was of institutional round was published on 20th December. The students admitted in last round were given admission on 21st December. Though the first list of seat allotment was published on 7th October the lectures in most of the colleges started only from the last week of November and those admitted in last round were able to attend lectures only after their admission which was from 22nd December.
Leaving students to suffer, The University of Mumbai has announced LLB 3 years exam to be commencing from 29th january. The students who have started attending lectures from the very first day of commencement will get only 50 to 60 days whereas the ones who had taken admission in the last round will get only 35 to 40 days to prepare for the examination as against UGCs and Bar Council's own rule of minimum 90 working days in a semester.
The students require some time to assimilate what has been taught to them and to prepare for the examination, it is impossible for any student to complete the entire syllabus within half the minimum days required. Mumbai University forcing students to write examination against its own rules and that too only to compensate its own poor performance in past is sheer irresponsibility if not farcical.
Making provison of 90 days and forcing students to write examination within half the minimum required time is nothing but steps to enhance Indian legal education in paper alone. While University has got the right to make rules and regulations, it is also bound to abide with such rules. What is apparent with the above is that Mumbai University is trying to relax the required teaching days so as to compensate the delay caused by its own poor perforformance in past, which itself attracts highest level of criticism from students, teaching staffs and anyone having a sound mind.
In view of above, I humbly request concerned and adequate authorities to look into the matter and postpone the examination in accordance with 90 days of minimum teaching requirement rule and the same will be in the interest of students at large.
