Challenge Unlawful Municipality Behavior in Barnwell, SC

The Issue

On February 10, 2025, my friend and I attended a courtroom proceeding in Barnwell, South Carolina, where we were confronted with practices that, we believe, violate our basic constitutional rights. Upon arriving, my friend was denied the right to wear his bulletproof vest and to use his body camera for personal security measures.

Such prohibition shockingly conflicts with the second amendment of our Constitution, the right to personal security, and the principle of public transparency of legal proceedings. Furthermore, I too, an innocent bystander, was threatened with arrest - a direct infringement on my right to observe a public hearing.

This incident is not just personal but has broader implications for the residents of Barnwell and beyond - who may also be exposed to these authoritarian practices. In a society built on the principles of liberty and justice, no one should live in fear, especially within their own communities.

By signing the "Free Josh" petition, we call for an immediate investigation into these disturbing actions conducted by the Barnwell municipality and urge them to respect the rights and liberties of their citizens. We firmly believe in doing what is right, and that starts with holding our public institutions accountable. Your signature could safeguard our constitutional rights and make Barnwell, SC, a safer place for everyone. Please, sign this petition.

We demand the release of Josh (JDubs)
