Challenge the proposed parking restrictions on Bromyard Road – demand a dialogue with WCC.

The Issue

The Traffic Management Team have proposed additional parking restrictions for Bromyard Rd - residents will be forced to try and park on the side roads.  Happy Land West, Blakefield Walk and Knight Street will be unable to take the strain.

  • Count the cars parked here - there are not sufficient spaces to accommodate them on the (already dangerously congested) side roads.
  • Roadside parking is the only available option for many residents. There are environmental / planning, cost and space issues preventing the option to pave.
  • The limited roadside parking is often taken by car showroom employees unable to park at their places of work.
  • Speeding up the traffic is not in the interests of resident and pedestrian safety. Vehicles drive in excess of the speed limit in the evenings - there are no speed cameras or signage. This is a family neighbourhood. Bromyard Road is a walking route to and from the local schools.

WCC’s Traffic Management Team please consider the needs and well-being of local residents.

  • We await the rationale for these proposals - show us the incontrovertible proof of the traffic-flow benefits.
  • Show us the evidence of traffic and parking monitoring, or resident dialogue and engagement.
