I am appealing to you as a concerned Canadian, witnessing the unchecked erosion of our deep-seated rights and freedoms. The world is tumultuous and our nation is facing its own share of difficulties. Amidst these trying times, it is ever more crucial that Canadians retain unfettered access to news and are allowed to congregate in a mutual, secure space - notably online - to exchange information and voice their opinions freely, without constraints. Freedom of Association, the right of individuals to band together to express, advocate, pursue and defend common interests, is at stake. This cause is profoundly personal to me.

Bill C-18 threatens to violate our essential rights bestowed under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, including but not limited to Freedom of the Press and Freedom of Peaceful Assembly. Moreover, it devalues the principles embodied in the United Nations' 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Bill C-18's legality needs to be contested to guarantee that these pivotal rights are preserved. If unchallenged, this bill could potentially pave the way for a precedent that endangers democratic principles.
