Pandit Nehru advocated Panchsheel treaty of 1954 . We named the most important Road in Chanakya Puri Diplomatic Enclave in New Delhi to mark the importance of the treaty ,i.e the PANCHSHEEL MARG. Panchsheel means the five principals which formed the very basis of Indo-Sino relationship i.e. mutual respect for each other's territorial integrity and sovereignity, mutual non-aggression,mutual non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and
peaceful co-existence. Sadly this treaty survived on paper . Panchsheel was the basis of the Non Aligned Movement .

China never had any respect for the treaty ,while India made big publicity about the Panchsheel . China violated time and again the territorial integrity of India, waged wars. We continue with a failed Nehruvian legacy, the name of the road Panchsheel Marg  . It is about time ,we rename this as Dalai Lama Road in mark of honour  for 14th Dalai Lama ( Tenzin Gyatso) who was conferred the Noble Peace Prize in 1989.  It will also send a strong and clear message to China that Indian of today is different . Any aggression will be responded with double the reaction . We will love to see the  Chinese Ambassador pass thru Dalai Lama Road everyday on way to office . And yes , our Tibetian brothers will get a much needed motivation . It is important to  debunk the name Panchsheel for reasons of respect to our sovereignity . Let us call it Dalai Lama ROAD.
