Justice Inequality; Have and Have Nots
The Issue
There are far to many legal details to tell the whole story, but here is a fact that lies right in the middle of it:
A female pleads guilty to 9 felony charges of Obtaining Property by False Pretense. Public Defender fails to "defend, (have a signed affidavit stating this fact)," and the end result; plead guilty to 9 charges, receives 6 months per charge for a total of 54 months, or 4.5 yrs.
In Comparison:
A second Female pleads guilty (in the same county and district court as female above) to 161 felony charges of the same charge, Obtaining Property by False Pretense, and receives two consecutive 60 day sentences. End result; plead guilty to 161 charges and receives a total of 4 months.
THE DIFFERENCE: The second individual (161 felony charges) had better representation and SHE IS THE WIFE OF ANOTHER JUDGE IN THE SAME DISTRICT COURT!!!
INSULT ADDED TO INJURY: The Judge that handed down the 4 month sentence to the second female denied the first females legal standing in a reduction in sentence, or minimally, a re-sentencing hearing, stating (remember the affidavit), "failure to prove inadequate council."
Our justice system is in dire need of reformation. PLEASE HELP.
