Veterinary Technician Program at The University of Minnesota - Twin Cities

The Issue

We believe there should be a Veterinary Technician program offered at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. A technician program would be beneficial for students that are aspiring future certified technicians. Currently, only a few technical colleges around the Twin Cities area offer this program. By adding this program to the university, it will bring in a larger amount of people seeking a certification, allowing the university to obtain more profit. Piper Equine Vet Clinic at Leatherdale and the Small Animal Hospital are both teaching hospitals in which tech students could learn efficiently and get hands-on experience. The University of Minnesota already has an accredited Veterinary School that students apply to around the world- by adding a technician program, it would help the University become an even more well rounded educational establishment.

Our goal is to persuade the College of Food, Agriculture, and Natural Resource Science (CFANS) and the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) to implement this program. Many UMN faculty and staff are in favor of this idea but need your help to further its progress.
