Keep Cerritos Crossing Guards

Keep Cerritos Crossing Guards
The Issue
Please don't donate to change.org. It is a privately-owned site, funds will not be received.
Due to budget cuts, Cerritos City Council has contemplated getting rid of crossing guards. Not only are they imperative for students' safety, but without them, students are more prone to accidents and are at risk of traffic danger.
In March of 2008, a child was killed while crossing Gridley Rd. Stories like this will only become more commonplace if the Cerritos City Council decides to cut crossing guards.
Under current law, the city is responsible for all costs associated with potential lawsuits if a child were to be injured on the way to school. Furthermore, it is the City Council's responsibility and moral duty to make sure our children are safe, as well as, their financial duty.
By signing, you believe the city should continue to fund crossing guards.
We will present this petition to Cerritos City Council on June 25, to show members our concerns.
