Keep my 40 year old disabled son from being forced out of his nursing home

The Issue

My Son, Douglas Wayne Collins, is a resident at Arden Place of Grapevine, a long term care Nursing Home in Grapevine, Texas. He is 40 years old and has been a resident of Arden of Grapevine Nursing Home since May 2019.  He has defied death 3 separate times since 2017. He is totally bed bound. He is a morbidly obese male weighing approximately 600 pounds and he is a Right leg amputee. He was in an auto accident in 2005 that left him disabled. He was given a Notice to Transfer OUT of this Nursing Home on April 29, 2021. Douglas Wayne does NOT want to leave this facility.  This has been his home for 26 months and his nursing staff were his family during the pandemic, when we were unable to visit him.  He is terribly upset and beside himself about having to leave. He receives the best care at this time and he has NO complaints about how he is taken care of and cared for. He has a wonderful personality and most of the nursing staff at Arden Place, do not want to see him leave.

In 2005, Douglas Wayne was a hard working 25 year old with his own house and new truck, when he was a passenger in a vehicle with friends, on a Saturday afternoon going to their grandparents anniversary celebration. No speeding, no alcohol,  just a freak accident. And NOW…he lives in a bed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and has been since May 2016.  All he has on a daily basis is the Nursing Staff at his facility.  I live about 20 minutes from him which gives him great comfort, that I can be there fast when need be. He has been on Hospice 3 separate times and has pulled out when his Doctors did not think he would.

Please sign this Petition to show Moral Support for Douglas Wayne and show support that he should be able to remain at Arden Place of Grapevine.  We know he has friends, family and good people in his circles of friends, that will sign in support of his decision.
