During the week of June 7th-June 13th, 2015, members of the band Gift Giver fired their bassist Troy Wilson,an openly gay man, after starting an altercation with him over homophobic comments made by members of the band. Several fans of the band have come out with saying that when they met the band members after a performance they were known to have been less-than-reputable people and have made homophobic remarks in the past. Troy described in a post he made on his personal Facebook the event from his side of what happened. According to him, the band had passed by a convenience store which had a gay pride flag in the window and the band members referred to it as "that gay pride sh*t." Wilson had said that the band started making homophobic remarks towards him after he confronted them about it. Tempers flared and the altercation turned physical, ending with the band members ganging up on him and kicking him out of their van in rural Canada, making more homophobic remarks towards him as they drove away. The band posted about it hours after Wilson had made the post and attempted to clear things up, yet did not deny that they made homophobic remarks towards him and instead brushed it off by saying that "everyone has been called something homophobic at some point" then continuing to add insult to injury by referring to Wilson's drinking problem and drug abuse as the reason behind the scuffle, being hypocritical as the band is known to abuse alcohol and drugs as well. This has not only attracted negative attention towards the band and its members, but also their fans, who for the most part have made homophobic remarks towards Wilson as well. This in turn could bring negative attention to Century Media Records for allowing a band with such distasteful attitudes towards people of homosexual orientation. Please, Century Media Records, remove this hateful band from your label before this situation turns more out of hand.
