My sister is willingly working for the dole as required by Centrelink, she does 2 days a week at a not for profit organization. To do this, she has to travel nearly two hours each day. She has two primary school aged children so has tried to get 'time off' during school holidays, in order to be there for them.

However all Centrelink would allow were two weeks over Christmas! What is she expected to do with them on those days in the following weeks?. She surely isn't expected to pay for childcare while 'volunteering'?

please sign the petition if you support her being able to be home with her children during all school holiday periods. She doesn't have a problem with working while they are at school. There is unfortuneately nowhere in the town where she lives where she could be employed, after a shock loss of job a couple of years ago.
