Trent Mays, a convicted rapist, is reportedly a student and quarterback at Central State University though it is unknown whether he is taking a year off for the 2019-2020 school year. Trent was convicted as a minor and his status is not listed on the sex offender registry made available to the public meaning most students, parents and alumni are just finding out about this issue of campus safety. The Netflix documentary, "Roll Red Roll" highlights toxic high school football mentality which apparently continues at CSYou. The current students as well as many other young people have cried out to the administration at Central State University via Facebook, Twitter and have also reached out via other mediums. Students have expressed their safety concerns and the school has yet to address them. Let's convene here in this petition to make our voices heard. CSU prides itself on civility yet has a convicted rapist walking around campus everyday. How are students to feel safe on this type of campus where the administration recklessly disregard the safety of their students? Multiple studies have found that rapists are extremely likely to rape again. Trent Mays is a convicted rapist. Through "social media investigations", the internet has listed Trent as a CSU student and many have expressed concern over student safety. If this petition does nothing else, hopefully it will bring awareness to current students and force the university to respond to concerns of student safety. Trent Mays is known as a Central State University athlete and represents the institution every time he puts on a uniform. Show Trent Mays that he does NOT represent the Central State University Marauders or Centralians! CSU what are you doing to keep students safe from a known predator? Make CSU a place where students can feel safe. Remove Trent Mays from Central State!
