Dear Supporters,

Two days ago, Mark and I sent an email to Gail Brewer, the Manhattan Borough President. She is the person who originally allocated the $80K for the resurfacing of The Skate Circle. See the email below. We have yet to receive a reply.

We need to keep being the squeaky wheel if we want to get the resurfacing done, but we need you to help us do the squeaking!

I am asking you to take a moment to send an email to Gail Brewer. You can simply cut and paste the short email below.

Thank you again for your support. Together we can make this happen!

Regards,

Anthony

Re: Resurfacing the Central Park Skate Circle

Dear Ms. Brewer,

Thank you for allocating the $80k for the resurfacing of The Central Park Skate Circle!

People come from all over the world to watch the skaters and participate in this uniquely NYC experience. It is an extraordinary mixture of culture, kindness, well-being, artistic expression and exercise. We need this more than ever!

I’d appreciate if you could do whatever you can to move this project forward as quickly as possible.

Regards,

YOUR NAME

EMAIL WE SENT TO GAIL BREWER

Dear Ms. Brewer,

We would appreciate your guidance and help. As avid roller skaters with deep ties to the Central Park Skate Circle, we have been eager to see the area on Dead Road resurfaced ever since you graciously allocated $80K for the project.

We recently started a petition requesting resurfacing of The Skate Circle and almost immediately garnered over 560 signatures. (see link below). In response, the Central Park Conservancy emailed the Central Park Dance Skaters Association (CPDSA) with vague assurances that the project was moving forward, but no details as to when the work will get done.

As you well know, people come from all over the world to watch the skaters and participate in this uniquely NYC experience. It is an extraordinary mixture of culture, kindness, well-being, artistic expression and exercise.

Roller skating, roller hockey and general outdoor recreation is coming back strong and the Skate Circle could be left behind.  Resurfacing will make the area safer and attract more skaters. As we state in our petition, The Skate Circle could come to symbolize the revival of the great city of New York and even the US itself. We are simply asking for city and park officials to recognize and support the vision of a great recreational space (from the volleyball courts to the end of Dead Road) for all the people to meet, skate, dance, exercise, meditate and heal. We need this more than ever!

New York is ready to take the next step in executing your plan and the public is eagerly awaiting. The goal is to have the resurfacing completed before the Springsteen concert with a ribbon cutting ceremony and have you there to cut the ribbon!

Do you have any advice on how to accelerate this project, that you kindly kicked off over a year ago?

Sincerely,

Anthony Donoghue & Mark Broomer
