Dear Supporters,
New York is not going to come back with one big flashy show in Central Park that becomes a wash-out due to a chance oncoming storm. New York will come back slowly through shows of community like we experience in The Skate Circle. However, a new surface is essential for our community to grow and to flourish.
Due to our squeaky (roller) wheel approach, the Conservancy is starting to respond. A number of you who emailed the conservancy on our behalf received the following response from John Ceglarek, Project Manager at the Central Park Conservancy:
Good Afternoon Mark,
The funding that Gail Brewer submitted for the skate circle went to the Parks Department. All funding secured by elected officials goes there, the Conservancy does not directly receive these funds. The Conservancy has submitted a work order to the Parks Department for the resurfacing work and they are currently waiting on final registration of the funds and project from the City Comptroller's office.
Regards,
John

It is great that they finally submitted the work order. Thank you for making this happen!
However, we need to put more pressure on the Conservancy to ensure the funds come through asap and the work gets done by the end of September. After that it will probably be too cold to apply the new surface.
Mark wrote the following reply:
John,
Great news and thank you. Do you have timetable on that step?
Please keep us informed as to the progress. The community is very interested.
Are we on track for getting this completed by the end of September?
Thanks,
Mark
The Conservancy responded as follows:
"We do not have a timetable on the approval from the Comptroller's office. They did not share that information with us"
We are asking you to write a similar short email to John Ceglarek - asking him to do what he can to make sure the work gets done asap. You can simply cut and paste the email below:

Dear Mr. Ceglarek,
As an avid supporter and member of the Central Park Skate Circle community, it is great to hear that the resurfacing project is moving forward. However, as I am sure you are aware, the resurfacing needs to be done before it gets too cold.
I would appreciate it if you could contact the Comptroller's office to find out the timetable for final registration of the funds and project.
Please do what you can to make sure the resurfacing project gets done this year. The Skate Circle community is eagerly awaiting your response!
Thank you!
YOUR NAME
We thank you in advance for doing this. Depending on the response from the Conservancy, we are ready and willing to take our campaign to the next level. Why the Conservancy has neglected The Skate Circle for over 26 years is an interesting question worth asking!
Hopefully, the work will get done soon, so we can put the past behind us and enjoy skating together on the new surface.
Please continue to spread the word. Thank you!
Regards,
Anthony
