On April 16, three people were lynched by an angry mob with sticks and stones. The three men who were killed have been identified as Sushil Giri Maharaj (35), Chikane Maharaj Kalpavrikshgiri (70) and Nilesh Telgane (35). They were travelling towards Surat to attend the funeral of common acquaintance and were killed by the mob on suspicion that they were child-kidnappers and organ harvesters. 

The incident happened in Gadchinchale village in Palghar district of Maharashtra. The police have arrested 110 people involved in the mob lynching. Of the 110 people, 101 have been sent in police custody till April 30 while other nine have been sent to juvenile homes.

'Guilty must be hanged till death'

Speaking to India Today TV, Nilesh's wife Pooja said, "I could not even see my husband's face. They brutally killed him and the two sadhus. They should be hanged till death."

Nilesh is survived by his wife (Pooja), his two children-aged five and seven years-and his mother.

"My husband respected Ramgiri Maharaj because he had grown up seeing him around in the village. When he heard that Maharaj has died, he thought he would escort the two sadhus who wanted to attend his funeral, and would himself also attend his last rites," Pooja said.
