DON'T KNOW IF IT IS CENTRAL BOARD OF FILM CERTIFICATION OR CENTRAL BOARD OF FILM DECISIONS. CBFC or CBFD?

The Central Board of Film Certification has asked the makers of Udta Punjab to make significant changes to the movie before release with as many as 89 cuts.

We feel any movie will lose its core objective when it is made to undergo too much of a surgery. Any doctor's wish is that the surgery shouldn't kill the patient. However, the doctor seems to be wishing differently in this case.

If the movie has content that is not suitable for viewing and falls within all regulations then leave it to the audience and let the audience decide. By decisions made on what can be shown and viewed the right is taken away from both the artist and the audience.

We feel the situation of substance abuse in Punjab needs focus as the first step of any problem solving process is awareness of problem. The movie at least helps people to think, involve in discussions that are much needed and take actions at personal levels.
