Install Barriers in Chelsea Gardens LU5

This petition made change with 115 supporters!

Over the past couple of years there has been an increase in the number of youths illegally riding motorbikes on the footpaths of the Parkside Estate

In the past few weeks this has become an almost daily occurrence and there have been a number times people have had to jump out of their way to avoid being hit

This campaign is to force Central Bedfordshire Council to install more barriers on the estate in the hope that it will make the area safer and less attractive to these youths

My main concern is Chelsea Gardens and in particular the area shown on the map. It is the pathway used by many local people and one that is used by dozens of parents and children on their way to and from Hawthorn Park Lower School

I have contacted the Police, CBC, Local Council Officials and the Press regarding this but there appears to be absolutely no desire by the Council to address the problem

Andrew Selous, our MP is supportive and has written to the Police and Council, The Dunstable Gazette has been in touch and will assist us.

BUT……

The official response from the Council department that is responsible has replied as follows: -

“Your comments have been noted and we will be happy to consider your request when we are planning our next programme of work in the area. If the issue becomes worse, please contact us again.”

This is not acceptable, worse translates as someone being hurt!

The area concerned is now being recorded on CCTV 24 hours a day

We need your help if we are going to force the Council to take action…… On Wednesday the 24th of June at 15.30 hours we will set up a table at the School end of the pathway and ask parents to sign a petition demanding the Council take action, if you can be there to help it would be appreciated.

If you see the youths then please email nomorebikes@yahoo.co.uk

And let us know the date and time they were seen so that recordings and pictures of the offenders can be sent to The Dunstable Gazette and the Police in the hope that they can be caught

Please support this before something tragic happens
