We the undersigned, petition Central Bedfordshire Council to give FREE PARKING at ALL of their FIVE Car Parks in Dunstable. NO CHARGE FOR THE FIRST 2 HOURS OF PARKING, anytime on any day of the week. 

Charges used to be 50p for 2 hours and then it was doubled to £1 for the same.

There is a charge of 50p for 30 minutes at this Ashton Square Car Park now. However we still believe NO CHSRHE FOR THR FIRST TWO HOURS OF PARKING would be a real help to all the businesses in Dunstable. 

Thousands of pounds were spent on a new charging system, which included Registration number recognition. This failed and was removed at more cost. 

Local businesses told CBC their businesses had been affected by the increase and have since closed. 

Please sign and share this petition to show CBC if they give FREE PARKING for the FIRST TWO HOURS when visiting anyone of their 5 car parks, it could help revitalise our town. By bringing back more visitors to spend more money in our local shops.

To explain further: 2 HOURS FREE PARKING PER VEHICLE PER VISIT. Charges to start when parked over 2 hours. 

Dunstable is my home town, I believe this could really help make a difference.

The original petition was for just 2 Hours Free Parking in just one of CBC’s 5 Car Parks in Dunstable. However since this has been started, businesses have suggested this be rolled out to ALL CBC car parks. 
One of the many reasons being that most of the Independent businesses run a ‘collection of purchase’ system. Meaning that every time they order to collect, they have to pay £1-50 for just 10 minutes!

We are are pleased to remind everyone that since this petition was started, it has in fact been presented to Central Bedfordshire Council for us by CBC Cllr Carol Hegley.

Ashton Square (behind Wilkos) does have FREE PARKING ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON FROM 1PM. This is helping but it’s not enough.
