An 83-year-old woman with asthma who was fined £80 for illegally using a park bench while with her pet dog has said she will fight the penalty.

Gwendoline Goring said she was catching her breath when she stopped in a children's play area while walking Mylo off French's Avenue, Dunstable.

Soon afterwards a warden handed her a fine for disobeying signs stating that dogs were not allowed in the park.

The council said there was "clear support" for the dog ban.

A few moments ago this was reported on the BBC news.

Gwendoline was out of breath and needed to sit down.... there are no benches outside of the play areas so she the entered a play area and sat on a bench just a few feet from the entrance gate.

CBC have said they will 'look into this matter'
