Lift the ban on pit bulls in centerville.
The Issue
I have seen over and over again on my time line on face book, "pitbulls are mean" or "pit bulls are aggressive". This has been brought to my attention multiple times. Like all other living creatures pit bulls behavior stows from the environment they are raised in. For example if a pit bull is raised in a home where its is hit and abused it will become agressive and defend itself. But if that same breed of dog is raised in a kind loving responsible family, then it will grow to be a kind loving happy dog. The behavior come from how its treated. Media makes these dogs out to be mean and evil. I know first hand that these dogs can be kind and loving. But they have to be raised in a good home. I feel a lot of people don't give these dogs a chance. These dogs can't stand up for themselves on this matter so I'm asking the community. Please help lift this ban so families can show that when raised in the right conditions these dogs are no different than the sought after german shepherd or husky that everyone wants. They are just dogs that want a caring family and love. For those who think that these animals are more agressive i have some statistics for you. 42+ fatal dog attacks since 2016. This is dogs in general meaning that dog attacks are not breed specific. 25+ number of different breeds associated with fatal dog attacks in the u.s identified in a CDC study that analyzed 20 years of data.https://www.pitbullinfo.org/dog-bite-statistics.html.
