Why this petition matters

Started by Kurtis Fechtmeyer

Based upon public communications dating from 2012 up to the present day, we believe US Representative Ilhan Omar (MN5) merits censure by the US Congress and removal from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and we are calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Chairman Eliot Engel and the Minnesota Congressional delegation to demand and initiate formal proceedings on this matter.  Representative Omar has a repeated history of false, derogatory and hateful communications that are profoundly anti-democratic in nature and go well beyond the bounds of acceptable discourse for a representative public office.  The promotion of these hateful conspiracies could bring immediate harm to the subjects of her vitriol and false characterizations.  Furthermore, Representative Omar is damaging the reputation for tolerance, fairness, and progressive democracy of the district she represents.
