The recently opened section of Sandgate Park is a fantastic addition to the village, providing a lovely place to go for a walk. However, it is causing a safety issue on local roads.

Due to the lack of off-road parking, visitors to the park currently leave their vehicles dangerously close to junctions and across pavements. Residents of Sandgate Lane and Hillside Road have found their driveways blocked and their view of oncoming traffic obscured. Pedestrians and wheelchair users have no choice but to venture onto the 40mph road. Just last week, mud on the road from cars mounting the pavement caused a serious accident.

We petition Cemex, the landowners, to permit provision for the creation of an off-road car park for visitors to Sandgate Park. There is ample room within the new park extension, and it would create a safe environment for local residents and visitors alike.
