The goal of this petition is to KEEP THE MANDATORY MASK POLICY IN PLACE at Cedarburg Public Schools for the remainder of the 2020 - 2021 school year.  

The CSD board will be reviewing the Mask Mandate Policy in the Cedarburg Schools at the next board meeting on April 26, 2021 at 6:30.  The issue may even be voted on that evening.  Masks are an integral and non-negotiable part of the “stay safe to stay open” COVID plan currently in place in the Cedarburg School District.  As such, we believe that it is in the best interest of our children, students, staff, support staff, administrators and our wider community to KEEP the mask requirements to ensure their safety.    

There are several CSD board members who are considering voting against keeping the Mask Mandate Policy and making masks optional on school grounds for the remainder of the school year.  We are gathering signatures to let the CSD board members know that they should vote to keep the current Mask Mandate policy in place through the remainder of the 2020 - 2021 school year.  

Many students (<16years) have not been vaccinated yet which directly affects the health and safety of many families, and extended families.  We cannot know who is high risk, we do not yet fully understand the potential long term effects Covid has on children, and we are now dealing with the new variant strains of this disease which have many unknowns. The CSD schools have worked hard in creating rules and procedures for safety that have allowed the students to meet in person and they have been very successful in keeping the schools open this year - why change things now? 

Again, we would like the board to follow the current CDC Guidelines and if the mandate is revisited by the board they will VOTE TO KEEP THE MASK REQUIREMENTS for the remainder of the school year. “Face coverings are required to be worn by all individuals when on school grounds, in school buildings and while transporting students in district provided or contracted vehicles.”
