On September 14th, Shelia Hunter-Lawrence posted a horrifying and disgusting video of a group of kids who are active students at CPHS who trespassed property, pulled out a sign in support of Black Lives Matter, and shouted an extremely racist phrase as they ran back to their car. This is still in the process or reaching local media, and to my understanding, they're working on getting it to the news outlets for a story right now, but CPHS Administration hasn't done anything about this incident, and it happened in July according to Shelia. CLEARLY there is a HUGE lack of URGENCY on the CPHS administration's part and that needs to change. After reading through the comments on Shelia's post, it appears that this isn't the only time racism has clearly occurred and there was a definite lack of action on the CPHS administration's behalf. Shelia's post reads as follows:

PLEASE LISTEN TO SECOND VIDEO PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I CAN NO LONGER REMAIN SILENT ABOUT THE RACISM ON THE CEDAR PARK HIGH SCHOOL CELEBRITIES DANCE TEAM AND THE LEANDER SCHOOL DISTRICT AT LARGE
Earlier this summer in July, in the Twin Creeks neighborhood of Cedar Park; students from Cedar Park High School and Middle School were caught on camera, in the middle of the night, pulling up Black Lives Matter signs while yelling the racial slur, “DIE NIGGERS DIE.” I was very surprised, disappointed, disgusted, and mortified when I discovered two of the students are CPHS Celebrity dancers and dance with my daughter.
While the CPHS Celebrities Dance Handbook clearly states that students should conduct themselves in a respectable manner on school grounds as well as off. Had this been my African-American daughter she would not have been allowed be an officer let alone remain on the dance teams as well as probably expelled from school. At this point, the school administration are hiding under the clause that what the students did was not a felony, so they claim to be powerless to not remove them from the team. Instead of showing leadership and removing them from the team outright or sending them to an alternative school, they have chosen to allow each offending students to speak with the officers of the team to give their side of the story when the video clearly shows their involvement.
My daughter has had to deal with blatant racism since kindergarten when we first arrived in Austin over ten years ago. While in kindergarten, children just repeat what they hear their parents say. However, these are juniors and seniors in high school with minds of their own, and know right from wrong. So whether they were riding, driving, shouting, or pulling up signs, they are all guilty. No one was held in the truck against his or her will. Anyone against what was going down could have gotten out the truck and called their parents.
As there are only 2 African-Americans on the team, my daughter does not know what to feel locking arms and dancing in competitions with people she thought were her friends and sisters but thinks “all niggers should die.”
As a parent, I am hurt because my daughter is hurting. As for the parents of the CPHS celebrities, I am disappointed with their silence and apathy of this hate crime. Their so called fear that if they share what they feel, their daughter may be the subject of retaliation when they try out for an officer position on the dance team next year. It saddens me that some parents do not care unless it is happening to their child. Who is to say what they may have in store for my daughter and the other African-American girl given this is what they feel and do in their private time.

Please please share this and let’s no longer hide this blatant racism. These girls were there and they should be removed from the team if not expelled from school; if your handbook means anything.
