Cease Violence Against Women in the Philippines

Cease Violence Against Women in the Philippines
The Issue
As a concerned Filipino citizen, I am deeply alarmed by the rising instances of violence against women, especially the most vulnerable among us - our children. From a personal perspective as a woman, I am moved to stand up against these heinous acts, as I believe that we, as women, must unite and lend voice to the voiceless.
In the Philippines, more than 20% of Filipino women aged 15-49 have experienced physical violence since age 15 (based on data from the 2017 Philippine Statistics Authority). This number shows the magnitude of an issue that continues to bring terror to our communities. Domestic violence, in particular, is a silent pandemic we must address urgently.
What can we do? Our government, both at the national and local levels, should fortify legal sanctions against perpetrators and strengthen support services for survivors. As individuals, we can provide emotional support to survivors in our communities, report instances of abuse that we witness, and contribute to raising awareness about this issue.
Moreover, an investment in education can help eradicate harmful stereotypes and beliefs that enable violence. The power of change begins with us. We must stand together to stop the violence, educate our communities and ensure the safety of women across the Philippines.
By signing this petition, you are lending your voice to the fight against violence on women in our country. Let's stand together for the rights of every woman and child in the Philippines. Please sign the petition.
