As an individual deeply concerned with media bias and the state of journalism, we have seen the drastic change in CNN's reporting - a change mirroring biased networks like Fox News. It's this shift in the journalistic approach of the network, appearing to favor a particular political narrative, that prompted my petition today.

CNN, a 24-hour American cable news network was first aired on June 1, 1980 by media mogul Ted Turner. Turner made a clear way to let Americans watch incredible news events from across the nation and around the world like the 1991 Persian Gulf War, the Rodney King riots, the O.J. Simpson Trial, the death of Princess Diana, the new millennium, the War with Iraq and the election of the first African-American President named Barack H. Obama. It became an incredible success for that cable network until it pointed into lower territory, and the continuation of poor ratings because our current President, Donald J. Trump, Sr., has threatened to shut down that news organization.

Our concern stems from the rising influence of the MAGA movement and Trump supporters on the network and the repetitive consequential decline in CNN's ratings and viewers causing the network to be shut down and be vanquished for good riddance. Also, a lack of trust and credibility to viewers not only here in the U.S., but also for the rest of the world.

According to Nielsen's ratings, during the second week of December 2021, the total viewership of CNN declined by 47% when compared to the same period the previous year, as it continues to decline viewership ages 25-54 this year. This sharp decrease indicates a high dissatisfaction level with the network's current media content and direction.

The ratings kept declining in November 2024 after election night by 36%, falling behind MSNBC. Meanwhile, Fox News became the top leader in complete Election Night coverage in formulating Donald Trump to elect for a second term as President of the United States of America and to beat former VP Kamala Harris. That is why we should never, ever, ever watch CNN.

The main reason? Talking heads including MAGA head Scott Jennings and Shark Tank CEO Kevin Leary; in addition, Jake Tapper, a journalist who wrote a book about former President Joe Biden. They want to push current President Donald Trump's agenda. It is both slimy and wrong to viewers.

In addition, CNN is also impacting our mental health. An exposure to negative news, especially in a 24-hour news cycle can link to an increased risk of stress, anxiety, and overwhelmed feelings. In short, this cable news network is bad for our mental health. Staying informed on current events and positive news stories from sources that are independent and/or non-profit is essential, and it can help a person's mental health.

Preserving independent journalism is paramount to our democracy. In this context, the shift in CNN's political coverage appears to deter viewers who thrive for objective and unbiased news. Our democracies and freedom need independent journalism that can offer viewers a balanced view of the world rather than pushing political narratives.

CNN also constructed a paywall to let subscribers pay a price, and that destroys the freedom of reading the news. A payment of $3.99/month could lead to bankruptcy as fast as possible, as predicted. It should be taken down.

As of now, there was a powerful report from Status examining how the CEO of CNN flew to Washington, D.C. talking about the President's private meeting at the White House. Thompson did make it to the White House, but he refused to cool down coverage of the demolition of the East Wing at the White House. Not only is CNN one of the legacy media companies that made America failed once more, but they are also three other news organizations that fail, for example, The Washington Post, NBC News and CBS News (now with new editor-in-chief Bari Weiss).

CNN should strive to uphold the tenets of journalistic integrity, providing consistent, unbiased, honest and truthful reporting. However, we are petitioning to turn off that cable network. We demand CNN's parent company Warner Bros. Discovery to shut the network down and be out of business for the good of the American people, the freedom of the press and the First Amendment, national security and humanity. We will make sure that in one day, we will see a headline called, "THAT WAS CNN."

Let's reconsider journalistic practices and the freedom of the press and direct its focus back to independent, unbiased reporting by watching or reading independent and non-profit news sources like the Associated Press, Reuters, the MeidasTouch Network, Straight Arrow News, Sky News, Al Jazeera English, France 24, ProPublica, Mother Jones Magazine, Newsweek, and listening to progressive commentators like David Pakman, Brian Tyler Cohen and Jesse Dollemore, so we will make the freedom of journalism go back to its own roots.

We will also donate money to PBS and NPR because the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has shut down for good after almost six decade because of a so-called 'big, beautiful' bill that President Trump signed into law cutting federal funds for public broadcasting. Therefore, we consider donate in order to bring back public and independent media.

CNN is deceptive media like Fox News, also a dangerous threat to our democracy and their silence will live in infamy forever and ever, and we will have a nice peace and quiet life together without watching that channel ever, and justice for the freedom of the press will be served.

From now on, CNN will be no more. Again, it should be shut down for good with a warning first, for the people, the freedom of the press and the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.
